Interview with Isis King from America's Next Top Model Cycle 11

Recently we had the opportunity to speak with Isis King from America's Next Top Model. Isis a 22 year old program assistant at a non profit organization, who currently resides in New York competed and was recently eliminated from the show. She is the first transgendered model to be one of the contestants on Americas Next Top Model.

Q. What made you want to be on America's Next Top Model?

A. Isis King, Top Model: I did a photo shoot for last seasons Top Model and Tyra thought I stood out, so she asked me to audition for this season.

Q. How did you get involved in modeling?

A. Isis King, Top Model: I did shows in college and I really love the industry.

Q. What is your favorite part about modeling?

A. Isis King, Top Model: I have confidence in my walk. I believe practice helps with confidence and I also received good tips from Jay during the photo shoots. I was looking forward to doing the runway but wasn’t really given the opportunity being eliminated.

Q. Do you think Tyra thought you were giving up during the competition?

A. Isis King, Top Model: They thought I gave up but it was draining and when you don’t have any family or friend support it makes it hard. You can’t really open up with anyone because they are your competition and you don’t have any privacy.

Q. What about the clothes you wore?

A. Isis King, Top Model: I dress pretty diverse. I thought I tried to be simple, I just mixed it in basic but when Tyra made that comment that I looked like a high school girl I took it both good and bad.

Q. What are you plans now?

A. Isis King, Top Model: I would love to be a celebrity designer. I am going to continue modeling and would like to do runway. I am also pursuing acting.
